FISHKILL - Rombout Fire Company, in partnership with Taconic Resources for Independence, is hosting a fire prevention seminar for the deaf and hearing-impaired at Rombout Station No. 1, 901 Route 52, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept 12.

The event will teach about fire prevention at home, planning and practicing a fire escape plan and informing the fire department about the special needs of the residents.

Participants will also experience simulated smoke conditions in the fire prevention smoke trailer.

A representative from the Dutchess County Emergency Response Center will talk about the Sorenson Video Relay Service used by the dispatch center.

Two sign language translators will be present.
