Rombout is always looking for more members. If you would like to be a part of the action, please download the Membership Application, fill it out, and bring it by our headquarters on Route 52 near Route 84. Active membership is open to those that are 17 years of age or older and want to assist at alarms and incidents. Active members consist of members that are trained and qualified for interior fire suppression and all types of alarms. Active members can also be exterior members, as well as fire police, assisting at the fire scene as well as traffic control. We have positions available for all levels of experience and comfort levels and will provide training.
Associate membership is reserved for those that cannot become active members, and or active members with other companies or departments.
Support membership is open to those 16 years old, that cannot become an active member, and for family members. The support group assists the fire company with fund-raising and supports the company on prolonged alarms. More information about the support group can be found on the support page.

Please see below for the requirements for a first year member:
A criminal history background check is conducted for an arson conviction and prior sex offense convictions as required by NYS law by the Dutchess County Sherriff Office on all candidates for membership.
Candidates who are verified to not have a prior arson conviction or prior sex offense convection will be scheduled for a physical at the expense of the Rombout Fire District. Members that schedule the Physical and Fail to show up will be assesed the fee for the physical. This physical does include a drug screening.
New first year member will have their social and firematic obligations prorated where eligible.
Company meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. The meeting starts at 7 PM at Station 1
The Fire District will provide each member with protective clothing, training, physical, and pager at no expense to the individual.
The Fire District maintains a service awards program and life insurance program which a member is eligible for.
