There were three smoke and three carbon monoxide in a building calls, in one case a victim was transported with symptoms of CO poisoning. Also twelve automatic fire alarms, six medical assist calls, one gas leak, one cooking fire and one oil spill. Four members recently completed the 52-hour Certified First Responder (CFR) course taught by Paramedic Instructor Mike Revinson from Dutchess Community College. Congratulations to Chief Jeff Marino, 1st Assistant Chief John Lucariello, Captain Charles Kuehner and Firefighter Kenneth Schulze for successfully completing the course and becoming certified in basic life support for the critical first few minutes of a medical emergency or accident.
With the start of the New Year comes the beginning of the new training programs for the members. On January 12, members received fire ground safety training, providing an overview of safety, as it relates to fire and rescue personnel.
On January 26, firefighters trained in the use of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that all firefighters wear to protect themselves against the harmful effects of smoke and toxic fumes.
Special thanks to The Bagel Shop in Fishkill for supplying hot coffee to firefighters working at a serious auto accident on a very cold morning.
