COLD JANUARY KEEPS ROMBOUT FD BUSY
Weather kept the Rombout Fire Department busy in the month of January with 70 emergency calls.
These included two structure fires, one serious where Rombout, assisted by Protection Engine Company, Chelsea, Glenham, North Highlands and East Fishkill kept a major garage fire from extending to the attached home and rescued two pets, the other a minor kitchen fire, twenty vehicle accidents, two hazardous materials incidents, eleven automatic fire alarms or good intent calls, six EMS assist calls, one car fire, two calls for power lines down, nine CO alarms or smoke/odor conditions, and nine public assistance/flooding calls.
Rombout Fire Department provided mutual aid eight times during the month to the following departments; East Fishkill (house fire), Chelsea FD, Protection Engine Company (hotel room fire), City of Beacon and assisted North Highlands with a search for a missing hiker.
