FISHKILL . Three people were injured including a 15-year-old boy who was in serious condition following a two-car accident this morning on Route 52 in the town, authorities said.
Police said Marsha Edwards, 65, of Fishkill, was driving west on Route 52 near Westview Road at 9:04 a.m. when she made a left turn into the Dutchess Park Shopping Center into the path of a car driven by Richard Salch, 54, of Hopewell Junction.
Edwards told police she was on her way to Walmart, and wanted to turn around to go the other direction, when she made the left turn. The teen was riding in her front passenger seat, said town police Chief Donald Williams.
Firefighters extricated the boy; he was taken to a hospital in serious condition, said Kevin Barry, a spokesman for the Rombout Fire Department.
Edwards and Salch were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.
Traffic was delayed about 45 minutes.
Williams said no tickets were issued, however the accident remains under investigation.
The Village of Fishkill Police, East Fishkill Ambulance and Mobil Life Support Services assisted at the scene.
